Tube-wells Installation, an innovative way of ensuring food sufficiency during the dry season

In some selected communities located around the riverine areas in Kogi State, ACReSAL has initiated a novel approach to all-year farming.
Sixty (60) Tube wells were drilled, and 60 Solar-powered water pumps were distributed to the communities of Ozi, Sarkin-Noma, Geregu, Olcuha-Obanyi, and Kumbani. This technology has transformed dry season farming in these riverine communities, with Ozi community in Koton-Karfe LGA standing as a symbol of resilience.
The farmers in Ozi have harvested rice, twice, from farms stretching into the horizon, a testament to the power of water, technology, and opportunity.
Kogi State ACReSAL is enhancing the capacity of about 600 farmers for all-year farming practices; the farmers are full of appreciation to the Kogi State Government, and the World Bank, for providing the loan facility to better their lives.
The story of Ozi and the other communities shows that when Kogi farmers have the right tools, they are more than capable of ensuring food sufficiency and food security in the State.
Kogi ACReSAL… Greening the Environment… Saving Lives!!!
