The Hybrid Implementation Support Mission organized by the Nigeria Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project commenced today, May 15, 2023.
While declaring the Mission open, the Task Team Leader, Dr. Joy Agene welcomed every participant to the all important Mission, following which she introduced the Bank Team.
The National Project Coordinator thereafter appreciated the Bank for the all important Mission, which is geared towards ensuring that participating States and the FCT are on track in the implementation of the Project. He thereafter introduced the FPMU team.
Speaking further, the TTL reminded participants that the ACReSAL Project is result based; she said the PIUs needed to work extremely hard to meet the objectives of the Project.
Delivering a presentation on Result Based Framework, the
M&E Specialist at the FPMU projected pictorials on Stakeholders engagement/consultation from individual States, whilst also emphasizing the need for the activity.
He also presented progress made on the ACReSAL results framework; according to him, the indicators under “Component A” which consist of Sustainable Landscape Management or Improved Catchment Management, Community Landscape Restoration among others is yet to commence, although activities preceding implementation are currently ongoing.
Furthermore, for Indicators under “Component B”, activities preceding implementation are also ongoing; however, under Community Strengthening, achievements have been recorded, such as Stakeholders Engagement, Distribution of Clean Cook Stoves in Kogi, etc.
In the same vein also, the Project (Kogi ACReSAL) has equally recorded some Project beneficiaries under “Component C” i.e. Institutional Strengthening. Under this Component, several support and collaboration have taken place between the SPMU and MDAs, etc.
The last presentation for Day 1 was on Climate Change and support to Institutions by Mrs Alhassan, the Climate Change Specialist; she explained the establishment of the Green Bond Project and the need for institutions to embark and green projects; she enumerated the climate change activities to be done by ACReSAL, namely Afforestation Project, Energy Efficient Clean Cook Stoves, FLID and CRF activities, Solar Grid projects, etc.
