Kogi State Government Distributes Clean Cook Stoves to Rural Women in Kogi East – Trains Beneficiaries (A Promise Kept!!!)…
Continuing its drive towards combating the menace of climate change and global warming, Kogi State Government, through the ACReSAL Project has once again trained rural women in Ankpa, Kogi East Senatorial District, and distributed clean cook stoves to them.
Representing the Project Coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto at the event, the Environmental Safeguard Officer, Mr. Samson Mopah Benu hammered on the necessity of Environmental sustainability, and urged beneficiaries to appreciate the State’s determination to put an end to the indiscriminate felling of trees, which had long plagued the State, and made it susceptible to the dangers of climate change and global warming hence, the purchase and distribution of clean cook stoves, which equally has great health and environmental benefits such as – reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, reduction in exposure to smoke emanating from cooking with firewood, and reduced visits to the hospital, as a result of undue exposure to smoke.
On their part, the beneficiaries thanked the State Government for its show of love, and promised the State Coordinator, Kogi ACReSAL that the clean cook stoves would be put to good use. However, just like Oliver Twist, they went on to ask for more of the cook stoves, as well as other life-changing interventions.
Highlights of the event was the training of beneficiaries by the Consultant, which was followed by the presentation of the clean cook stoves to the rural women.
