In a bid to bring members of the Kogi ACReSAL Steering and Technical Committees up to speed on the PDO of the ACReSAL Project, and what the Project sets out to achieve, the Kogi ACReSAL PMU is organizing a Retreat for members of its SSC & STC. The Retreat is quite apt as there has been a high turnover rate of members of the Committees, thereby necessitating the need to help new members understand the workings of the Project, and the invaluable roles of the Members to the smooth running and success of the the Project in Kogi State.
While declaring the Retreat open, the Honorable Commissioner for Environment, who also doubles as the Chairman, SSC urged Members to pay attention to the Lectures which will be delivered in the course of the Retreat, as they all have a role to play in ensuring the success of the Project. He equally thanked the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his consistent and dependant support to the ACReSAL Project.
On his part, the National Project Coordinator, Dr. Abdulhamid Umar, while delivering his lecture on Institutional Arrangements, brought to the fore the need to hold sacrosanct, the importance of adhering to the prescribed institutional arrangements as prescribed by the World Bank in the PIM & PAD.
While delivering his goodwill message, the Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulmumin Danga, was full of praise for His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, whose love for the ideals of the ACReSAL Project has already laid the foundation of its success… He therefore enjoined members to give their maximum support to the Project Coordinator and her team, for the attainment of the PDO in the State.
Lending his voice to the admonition of his fellow colleagues, Hon. Ojoma, who was recently appointed as Commissioner for Agriculture, thanked the Hon. Commissioner for Environment and the Project Coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto – OON for making him feel at home in the Project. He therefore pledged his unalloyed support in ensuring the success of the Project.
While delivering her welcome address, the Project Coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto – OON, hammered on the importance of the Retreat. She encouraged members to take notes, and pay attention to all the lectures to be delivered in the course of the Retreat, as therein lies the source of knowledge for the successful implementation of the ACReSAL Project.
In the same vein, while delivering her paper titled “KOGI ACReSAL in FOCUS the Project Coordinator, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto – OON, took her time to shed light on the Components of the Project; she then went ahead to present a breakdown of the activities of Kogi ACReSAL on a Component by Component basis.
Responding to Lectures presented by the Resource Persons, members of the SSC & STC, who spoke, were full of thanks to the Hon. Commissioner for Environment, as well as the Project Coordinator, for organizing the well timed Retreat, which couldn’t have come at a better time. They equally asked pertinent questions ranging from Project Implementation, and Project Sustainability, following which the Project Coordinator, as well as Resource Persons took time to respond to, adequately.
By and large, day 2 of the ongoing Retreat for members of the Kogi ACReSAL State Steering and Technical Committees was a huge success, and couldn’t have come at a better time.
