It was loaded with great, and mind-blowing sessions which spoke to the achievement of the PDO of the ACReSAL Project… Some of the sessions were on:
1. CLIMATE SMART AGRICULTURE
Under this activity, it was highlighted that there will be a 10ha/State Demonstration plots where the activities of Component B will be displayed; farmers will select the plots and release it for Project use.
Participating States were reminded that there will be soil tests to be carried out to determine the appropriate crop(s) to plant.
2. E & S
Mr. Lucky Eharze of the World Bank anchored this session with support from Mr Elijah Siakpere.
Issues bordering on the status of E&S were dealt with during this session. He explained what ESMP is all about, emphasizing that it is a management tool, and not an assessment tool; he also enumerated the principal features needed in project description, as a way of shedding light on the intricacies of the subject-matter.
3. On Communication, the FPMU Communication Specialist gave a vivid presentation on the expectations of the Communication Framework. She hinted that the unit will commence the classification of pictures, videos etc early in the Project, as a way of ensuring a clearcut dissemination of information, whilst also emphasizing the importance of a working synergy between the Website of the FPMU and participating States, as well as the need to showcase proposed investments to the world.
4. With respect to the deployment of TECHNOLOGY, Dr. Harsh, as usual, dazzled us with his depth of knowledge and expertise, even as he shed light on the various technology based reporting tools, which are geared towards making project implementation a splendid experience.
5. PROCUREMENT – There was a breakaway session/training on Procurement, where issues bordering on STEP were extensively dealt with. Procurement Officers were reminded of the sensitive nature of their job, and the premium placed over procurement issues.
Ultimately, the entire sessions for the Day were simply educative and exhilarating…
