This is an Agroforestry intervention of 80 Ha, comprising Maize, Cashew and Oil Palm.
Mr Andy Seglah, the Livelihood expert from the World Bank, who led the delegation, disclosed that, although he was impressed with the farm, the present momentum must be kept by the farmers so that high yields can be achieved during harvest.
On his part, Mr. Cyril Bikom, an expert advisor on Agriculture with the FPMU, said the visit was mainly to interact with the community and proffer solutions to challenges faced by them.
According to him, this would ensure high yield from the Cashew and Oil palm crops, since they had economic value.
He further advised that proper plans for a good planting season be put in place before the coming rainy season, stating that only then can good yields be achieved.
Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto-OON, Project Coordinator, Kogi ACReSAL, while commending the community for their hard work, reiterated the fact the effects of Climate Change was worsening, especially during the dry season, and so, all hands must be on deck to ensure that the plants don’t dry off.
The team had a very robust interactive session with the community, with women participating maximally.
